About Grandpa

Hi I’m Geoff, a Grandpa just about retiring age. I love creating all manner of things.

My own grandfather set me on the path of inventng, building and mending on his wheat farm in the Victorian Mallee. He had bought an old seaplane after WW11 so he had an endless supply of raw materials and the imagination to go with it.

I would like to pass on some of his enthusiasm for creating useful things to my grandchildren and to get a lot of enjoyment from doing so.

As long as I can remember I have been making or mending my way through life. This combined with a restless soul has meant that I very rarely enjoy the feeling of having something brand new so if you feel I over promote the use of recycled or second hand parts it really is just my way of doing things.

I watch some of the DIY or custom building shows on TV and envy their ability to use new shiny materials in a spotless and well organised workshop.

Having said all this I intend to be just the ideas person. If you take on any of these projects you are likely to find a better or easier way to go about it.

I never did keep a job for very long and have worked in industries as varied as Insurance to Opal Mining. I’ve picked up quite a few basic skills along the way, but believe me, I am no expert in any field.

I just love boy’s hobbies and hope to live long enough to spend a lot of time sharing them with others.

My wife, Trish and I recently opened Gallery 79,

a boutique collectibles gift shop in the small country town of Charlton in Central Victoria, Australia.

Now I have finally discovered the enjoyment of collecting all sorts of wonderful things from all over the world. The only drawback about this is that our customers often take part of our collection with them when they leave the shop.

If you have a hobby or an interest you would like to share with others please contact me using the form below.

I would love this to become THE place for we grandpa's to get together and share ideas and achievements.
